Adjusting Serpentine (Ribbed) Belt Tension
If the engine has only one (serpentine) drive belt, it should have an automatic belt tensioner pulley and not need adjustment. However, the automatic belt tensioner pulley will have a belt wear indicator. The indicator is used to determine if the belt has stretched more than about 1% in length. If the belt length indicator mark is outside the maximum permissible limit, have belt replaced by a professional automotive technician.
